Archival & Migration
For those just arriving, a quick note on how this forum came to be, and what you’re seeing when you browse the older posts.
castaneda.forum is an independent, self-hosted, non-commercial Discourse community that preserves and continues the work of the Castaneda community. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Reddit, Inc.
Why was this done?
Over the last few years, community discussion platforms like Reddit have steadily restricted access to their own data: 2023 API pricing changes, the 2025 Responsible Builder Policy that ended self-service developer access, and the shutdown of unauthenticated .json endpoints in May 2026. Years of practice, discussion, and hard-won insight had come to depend on platforms like Reddit that could gate or wall off that record at any time. Preserving that community information somewhere the community could rely on felt less like a preference and more like a necessity.
Where the archived content comes from
The archived posts were imported from a community-compiled archive. In brief:
-
Posts and comment threads were imported into the appropriate forum categories.
-
Original attribution is preserved through
archive-[username]accounts. -
Images and other media were stored locally so links don’t break.
-
Two kinds of empty “blank post” artifacts were filtered out.
Please note: archive- accounts are placeholders for attribution only. They are not operated by, and do not speak for, the original authors. Archived content reflects what was available in the source archive and may not reflect later edits or deletions made on Reddit or any other platforms.
Your content, your choice
All content in the archive belongs to its original authors. If you contributed to content from the archive, you have options:
-
Claim it: Connect your original contributions to your castaneda.forum account.
-
Remove it: Ask us to remove any of your posts, comments, or images, or your entire archive account.
-
Anonymize it: Ask us to keep your posts but remove your username from them.
We’ll honour removal requests promptly, without debate. Rights holders can also submit requests.
What this means for you
-
The archive is browsable, searchable, and quotable. Treat it as a living library rather than a museum.
-
New discussion happens natively on the forum. Reply to old threads, start new ones, or use the archived material as jumping-off points.
Why it matters
Over many years, the online Castaneda community built something rare: a place where serious practice takes precedence over intellectual debate, academic analysis, and speculation. This site exists to keep that record intact and accessible for generations to come, so that those who arrive after us have the same chance to be pulled by the intent of the sorcerers of Ancient Mexico.
