We’re talking 1993 KPFK Radio Interview with Taisha Abelar (not KVMR Radio). I’ve checked the section Radio interviews in Wiki and I don’t see it. Reason I’m looking for it, is I’ve been going through Nagualist Newsletter (I had no idea it existed) because of this post, and seeing this:

In Nagualist Newsletter, Issue 5, Page 18:

Wouldn’t it be a trip if it turned out to be a different radio interview?” Well darned if it didn’t! Considering how obscure radio interviews can be, who knows how many of them have been
done by the witches. The unique thing about this particular interview was that it was designed to be for someone with absolutely no knowledge about this topic. It almost seemed like Taisha was trying to interest people who had never read any of Carlos’ books.

 

Later they mention they did not get permission to print it in the newsletter. But I think I know which interview they mean. Pretty sure it’s this one:

And I remember there was an audio I had of this too (unfortunately not the whole thing, only cut of 17 minutes), which you’ll find in the zip here. Still, please, u/TechnoMagical_Intent can you put it in wiki/audio section (backup/archive) so it doesn’t get lost? The mp3 files have original names and on my old disk they have a date - 11.4.2010. At that time I was downloading all I could get from CC, looking for interviews, lecture notes, going through something called Ixtlan Mailing List etc. At first I didn’t notice it’s not the full audio, but a cut. I never had more, couldn’t find more. But if I downloaded it from somewhere, somebody must have it too and maybe they have the whole thing and let us have it? :slight_smile:
 

Anyway I think for many this won’t be new, but if you haven’t come across this, enjoy, it’s a gem. With audio it’s clear Taisha just speaks without preparation, answering questions on the go, and the coherence she has trying to explain something like this is quite amazing. For anyone who read the books and is like ‘what the hell did I just read’ the interviews are a must read and maybe start with this one :wink:

I downloaded your .ZIP file, but will wait a bit to see if anyone else has a longer cut before uploading to Soundcloud and Archive.org. No sense in having multiple cuts in circulation, confusing people.

im searching since some years a recording from an instrumental event in honour of carlos castanedas work. a friend found a vinyl in spain, it looked professionally made, and in the title were the names CC and DJ and “el maestro”, but also more that i dont recall, the whole cover was in spanish language, and the recording was about 90 minutes of changing very eerie sounds in the middle between seeming familiar somehow but also unrecognizable. unfortunately lost the vinyl. perhaps someone here might be able to find it if its interesting.

It won’t be so perfect anyone would notice.

I cloned my own for a promo for my AI chips, because I needed a video for Chinese customers and know how hard it is to speak a script well. Being an announcer is actually a good talent.

Not something I could do, so I figured my computer voice was better.

But no one here at work thought it sounded like me.

Even so, Taisha wouldn’t like it.

Some called Carlos “El Maestro” in private classes.

The women, and the men who tried to kiss up to the inner circle to get more invites, called him “The Nagual”.

I just called him “Carlos” and no one ever complained about it.

But some of the women who had contact with Taisha and Florinda said they insisted he be called “the Nagual”.

Which is very confusing…

That word gets reused for too many things.

In the radio segment Composer’s Datebook (Minnesota Public Radio), Michael Colgrass relates accounts from conductors in the American Southwest: in the last years of his life, Carlos Castaneda would sometimes attend concerts featuring Winds of Nagual, appear “right before the first downbeat” wearing a white suit, and refer to the music as his “Hail to the Chief.”

thanks for the suggestion. it has some similar parts, but as far i remember, its not the one from my memory. i think it must have been made roughly around the 198xs, there was some year on the vinyl. anyway thanks.

i was searching for the kpfk radio interview with taisha and looked her up in the wikipedia. in the german (and not in the english) wikipedia it says (translated with deepl): “.. Taisha Abelar disappeared in 1998 after Castaneda’s death.[12] According to other sources, she lives a secluded life in Mexico.[17] ..”

original german text: “.. Taisha Abelar verschwand 1998 nach Castanedas Tod.([12]) Nach anderen Quellen lebt sie zurückgezogen in Mexiko.([17]) ..”

The contact information is still visible, so I suppose if the website is truly off-line, the only recourse might be to try to contact them directly and ask if they know where they got that information from.
