I have a somewhat similar problem with OP and I did read what danl wrote about the silence technique here
You’re looking specifically for the “thing” that causes the internal dialogue. That’s your attention, focusing on something. In the beginning it’ll just feel like an annoying memory you can’t get out of your head. But in its purest form, it’s a beam of awareness you focus on reality. It directs the assemblage point.
Do I understand correctly that to achieve silence we need to rest our attention? I mean I have trained to hold attention “outside”. Whether it is body “feeling” or just “outside” vibration. That also stops inner dialogue for a while and I can see thoughts when they appear but apparently, it is not enough?
Today I tried to just rest attention and I did see/feel that it wanted to burst “out” and reach something, anything all the time. From here comes another question. When colors appear do we need to give them attention or continue resting attention?
