Not sure if the venting design is the same though as they’re safety and not welding goggles like the 2895S model.
Yes, such a model will not work. In addition, the frame is transparent, it will light up from the sides.
You could add an angular hole, matched on the other side by a different hole, coming in at different angle. So no light can sneak through there, but air can.
I’m picturing sunbathing booth glasses from your warning about black eyes. Only covering the eyes.
I was suggesting the “normal” kind you see on kids who are snorkeling.
But I suppose suction could do that. Shouldn’t take more than a red hot pin sized hole to put a stop to any suction.
I think you can use a mask instead of diving goggles if you seal the glass with aluminum tape. mask like this
So, to summarize after two days of using my glasses
1.Reliability: glasses are quite reliable, high-quality construction, adhesive aluminum tape does not peel off or fall off. You can take it with you to work or on trips, take up little space.
2.Convenience: The glasses are quite comfortable. The first 10 … 15 minutes of use you feel some discomfort due to the fact that there is an unusual foreign object on your face, then you get used to it very quickly and you don’t even notice. Do not chafe or crush when properly fitted, and do not irritate the skin. Eyes and eyelids are free.

Efficiency: very effective. You can practice in them even on a clear sunny day outside. I specifically wore glasses and looked at the sun and at the powerful LED lamp - glasses provide perfect darkness, without the slightest gap or crevices. Minimum fit to face required.

Impressions of practice with glasses: glasses are as effective as a completely dark room. Literally 10 minutes after starting the practice, I began to see light spots, stripes, sparks. Two hours passed unnoticed. An interesting and strange impression: as if you see the room through these glasses as through a night vision device or night binoculars, although physically this cannot be.

Conclusions: In general, this design fully met my expectations. I even managed to enter a red spot and fall into a dream when using these glasses. I only recommend finding this particular model.
That’s probably better than the standard kind, which likely put something on the bridge of your nose.
But maybe you need air holes to avoid the suctioned black eye effect.
Here are two more possible models, but not as good as the 3M 2895S:
Amazon - Pyramex V2G PLUS - the hard plastic head buckle piece may become uncomfortable with extended wear, just a guess. especially if you put your head back against a headrest or lay down.
Amazon - Selstrom S80225 - designed for wildland firefighters. they appear to have side gaps in the latex the fits the face, that may allow a bit of light to enter into peripheral vision…which may only be an issue in full sunlight.
Both would require aluminum tape applied to the lenses of course. And I still feel that over hours of wear the edging/perimeter of the silicone/latex will produce visible creasing on the face, as opposed to the foam of the Goalball Goggles.

I got the 3M safety glasses with tape that one Ukrainian guy once suggested. It is great you have much more room for your eyes.
You should recommed to people to buy that since i bought a cheap 3d sleep mask before and I couldn’t open my eyes in there.
In that mask you can have complete darkness even in sunlight.

I tried those but to get a good seal required painful levels of pressure. I just couldn’t wear them for very long, though I got decent light blocking after lots of added duct tape.
The manta masks are a touch pricey, but very dark and way more comfortable for me, though also not perfect. Next step for me is to paint the windows and see how that goes.
