So it leads me to believe that all humans survive death, not just sorcerers. So this means the “alternate way of death” is something else.

That is true, Don Juan suggests “The fewer interpretations sorcerers make, the better off they are.” This would apply to sorcerers, one and all.

Regarding hearing the voices of dead people, Florinda in “The Witch’s Dream” was spending time with spiritualists and even saw the spirits rather than hearing them.
And yet, Florinda also disagreed with that same premise:

No, these are specific spirits, ie. human people/persons. Some inorganic being experiences in my opinion at this point may be dead humans pretending to be nonhuman spirits.

No, I’m having conversations with them, ie. voices as stable as the voice of any person you’d meet on the street.
You should read the Witch’s Dream. She also had conversations with a person that seemed plain as day like talking to a person. And yet she offers the perspective above.

I’d say you existed before you were here, have maintained continuity from when you were a baby up to now, and will continue to exist once your biology is gone, it’s just a set of experiences you’re having.
