Even Better J Curve Diagram

walking around in daylight: 20 points.

Then i have a lot of points by now :joy:

Can you move your assemblage point in daylight so that reality visibly changes?

I just want to make sure there was no understanding on what that meant.

If you can’t assemble another world in front of you (whether you can enter or not), then you can’t move the assemblage point.

Or, you just started to learn and haven’t moved it far enough yet.

What happens during a re-run? How difficult is it to achieve one?

At first, you’ll likely only get a re-run as an intent reward for forcing very deep silence.

You won’t be able to trigger one.

So forget about trying that.

Go for stopping the world.

And it won’t hurt to get yourself an inorganic being. You have to look for those, to get one.

If they don’t show up on the puffs (hard for me to believe), you’ll have to get one in dreaming at the first and second gate.

What happens during a re-run is that you become the person who experienced that.

But you can’t alter it, and don’t realize that’s what’s going on, other than as a realization something really cool is happening, and a memory of how you got in.

Unfortunately, it won’t even occur to you to look around and figure out where you are, and what’s happening.

It’s sort of like right now. There’s no reason for you to stop and look around, as if you were a body snatcher who just arrived.

I was playing with a new inorganic being last night, and it was trying to teach me that we can’t do anything at all.

We just wait for intent to do it.

So a sorcerer will even put on a show, as if he knows what to say to get a specific result.

But he doesn’t. He’s just waiting for intent to do it.

we can’t do anything at all

Does this also apply to forcing silence? Which is pre-eminent to everything in here.

And what were doing is putting out a “command” until it’s echoed and becomes the dark sea of awareness’s command (definitely more of a mouthful than the Eagle, but worth it!).

Some days you just can’t seem to stop it, even for a microsecond. The reservoir is too full and spills over your tiny dam traced with cracks and gaps.

And it’s not even emotionally loaded stuff, necessarily, just a chaotic information-based interference pattern. That builds and reinforces itself.

On those days even the stones or crystals don’t seem to help.

(I suspect it’s because you simply haven’t done enough that day(s), to intend it with your actions)

Good point.

My post today ought to have mentioned that.

You can’t do anything. Except empty yourself of thoughts, and “want something”.

But not too strongly.

That’s the mistake. “Too strongly” perhaps?

That would be a matter of confidence I suppose.

Julian could silence his mind, and parade around alongside a river, putting on a show for everyone, knowing with certainty that intent would do what he wanted when the time came.

We’ve still got that nagging doubt.

Dan! Thanks a lot for the diagram. Three weeks ago I thought to write to you and ask you to combine all the data of the effects on the J-curve into a similar scheme. As if you heard me. Many thanks.

We need one for recapitulation, and one for chair silence.

Juan might make one for daytime, but he needs more to put on there.

We could also make a counter intent one.

Like the path you take, to become a bad player.

That could be amusing.

You start off as a kid who gets beat up in high school.

At the end, you’re “Ken Eaglefeather!!!”

Trouble is, 90% of those who pass through here might like that path better.

So the main ways to perform magic is by practicing silence in a dark room until:

  1. A IOB shows up and helps you.
  2. You manifest the wall that you can use to enter dream worlds.
  3. You reach such deep levels of silence that you stop the world.

What happens if you meet your double in the dark room? What can he/it help you with?

What happens during a history lesson about your own linage?

In here maybe.

But let me repeat.

This place is like a pot luck dinner.

Anyone can bring a main dish.

Unfortunately, so far there’s only my crummy tuna casserole.

People get confused and think there’s some kind of authoritarian plot to force everyone to eat more tuna.

That’s not it at all. In fact, I’m quite unhappy that darkroom gazing is all we have.

It’s just that no one else had any magic at all until recently.

So if there was another path out there in the Castaneda world, no one in here knew where it was.

How sad is that?

The truth is, chair silence is much faster. But no one ever keeps that up, because it’s not very convincing.

As for your #1, #2, and #3, those are possibilities.

But there are so many things you can learn in the darkroom, all of which are pretty astounding magic, that a list is not possible.

For example, I was playing Tetris with the puffs last night. Just sitting on the bed, commanding them where to move, so as to form something larger.

Will I write up how to do that?

No point. People can discover their own fun things, when they get that kind of control.

So in general that’s the way things are going in here. Your list of what to do.

But it’s not the only thing that can happen.

Carlos described those 3, so they’re a good start.

> What happens if you meet your double in the dark room? What can he/it help you with?

If you meet him or her, it seems to be safe even with the warnings about not looking them in the eyes. They seem to know that too, and make sure it doesn’t happen.

However, it could turn out that’s just a trick, the claim that the universe will explode if you look into his eyes. Perhaps to add a little fright to us, so our assemblage points move more easily.

Cholita helps me out with sudden fright all the time, so I get to see how well that works.

Remember all the random shouting don Juan and Genaro did, while teaching Carlos. Randomly scaring him, any way they could. And making fun of him, to embarrass him.

The assemblage point is held in place with our internal dialogue. Sudden fright knocks it loose.

The dreaming double is in fact very scary the first few times you run into it.

What they can do for you, is find the “abstract”.

It needs you, and him, in the same place, to find the abstract on purpose.

Or an inorganic being can push you into it, but that’s usually to trap you.

The abstract seems to add the element of time and space to your darkroom abilities.

Like “secret sauce” poured over everything.

It can also form objects.

And trap you.

But forget all that.

All you really need at first, is to find some of those puffs and hold one in your hand.

You have to get past where the bad players in here are.

They have no magic, so they cause trouble to get attention for themselves.

Get yourself even a tiny bit of magic your friends won’t believe, and then think about it again.

Be the little kid at the shopping Mall who has $10 in his pocket, running around with his friends who have absolutely no money.

The kids with no money just go around causing trouble in the shopping mall, and fighting with each other.

These days, taking selfies I suppose. We even get some trying to shoot selfies in this subreddit.

But the kid with $10 looks in the windows to see what fun things he can have.

Because now everything is within his reach.

(It’s a really little kid who thinks $10 is a lot of money.)

What happens if they trap you? Could you be attacked during the darkroom practice?

I still have a lot of questions, but I’m also going to practice 3 hours a day because I don’t feel like I’m wasting a lot of time when I can train some calisthenics at the same time.

They lay on top of you and steal energy for a few hours.

But you get dark energy in return! And you get to experience the abstract.

Sure you could be attacked during darkroom!

But rarely does anyone get that lucky.

I’m always daring them. Last night I was trying to figure out a name for my new entity.

I was going to base it on his appearance, but he kept changing that.

He even ended up looking like a Cro Magnon man covered in furs, so he could live in the frozen north. Hair and beard fully grown.

I started to think if I could name him based on that, and his face turned angry, like he was going to attack.

I encouraged him, but he gave up. I wasn’t afraid, so there was no point.

Then he taught me an incredible lesson so amazing, I almost got up to write it in chat, so I wouldn’t forget.

But I was afraid to miss any of it.

It was floating around the room in pieces, aa little dram scene here, one there, all connected to explain the lesson.

I took my right hand and did a frantic thumbs up inside each floating dream, hoping there was some way to retain it, without getting out the computer.

And I didn’t get out the computer. Or the cellphone to take notes.

So it’s mostly lost.

I hope you really are so lucky, as to get attacked!

And I didn’t get out the computer. Or the cellphone to take notes.

So it’s mostly lost.

I’ve been looking into small digital voice-activated recorders that have no led light while on, that can be hung on a lanyard on one’s neck or clipped to a shirt. They are available, but the ones I’ve found that are more affordable are weird chinese knock-off brands on Amazon. Don’t trust the reviews.

They probably fall into the consumer spy-gadget market. As they make more expensive ones you can attach under a table etc. that have no lights and only record when it detects sound above a certain threshold.

They can all be plugged into a computer or phone USB port, to offload and auto-transcribe the recordings.

That would be a weird recording the next day.

Don’t forget. It’s all sleep walking.

The smaller models have a manual recording mode and thumb-sized switch. I’d think one’s speech would be at least somewhat “legible” while asleep.

Since talking is one of the 8-Points, it shouldn’t be fatally disruptive. Unlike typing into a smartphone.

The smart phone puts an end to it. The assemblage point moves back to the original position.

But it’s still flexible from having moved so far, and the light from the phone messes with what you see in the dark, which can help out when you want to move it back.

I suppose Carlos took notes, so it’s not really all that different.

Remember that don Juan advised him on what to write down, when learning from the dreaming emissary.

That’s pretty much what goes on in the darkroom when an IOB is teaching me.

Thank goodness, because it’s too weird to mention otherwise…

Carlos was kind to us by letting us know he did that too.

I would suspect the recorder would make you self-conscious the next day, and have some side effects.

Remember, the darkness is like an intent bubble of its own.

There is some risk of trying to merge it with another.

I’m not sure what it would be, but just now I was wondering why I’m so tired right now. I had to go get a caffeine pill.

Someone who knows me overheard and said, “Because you’re an old man, and spend all night bending into weird shapes instead of sleeping?”

That’s when I remember, “Oh yea. I was holding a new demon in my hand for hours, instead of sleeping! I kept asking the little guy, what should I call you?”

The older Chinese secretary who knows I’m not joking gasped, and said, “Don’t tell me that sort of thing!”

Two separate bubbles…

There are apps who can record what you are saying after you clap or say a specific word.

What happens during a history lesson about your own linage?

Oh…I knew there were apps where you shout a specific phrase and your lost phone starts ringing, but didn’t know about those.

Thanks!

I’ve only seen two. And hard to remember now. But I’ll try.

The first time what happened was, I was watching an orange cat jump between floors of an apartment building across the street from On 8 in Bangkok. It’s so hot there, everyone and every animal moves very slowly when they walk. The cat had been chasing rats in slow motion on the narrow street to the hotel entrance. He was a stray that the Hotel adopted to keep the 10,000 rats surrounding the building, outside the grounds.

I looked away at the larger street. A tricycle taxi went by. I turned back, and the cat was on the second story of the apartment building. There were no stairs, and I was puzzling about how he got up there in 2 seconds. He’d been walking so slowly, I couldn’t imagine he suddenly sped up and found a way to the second floor without me seeing it.

My mind was puzzled. I was already in heightened awareness thanks to Little Smoke and Devil’s Weed, who had been chasing me relentlessly all over Asia.

Being puzzled was enough to move my assemblage point significantly.

I found myself in a cave, large enough to stand up in. I couldn’t see the end of it, but there were rows of “paintings” (windows?), and Little Smoke’s head was glued to the wall. He was doing his, “wise old indian shaman” imitation, like a Disneyland ride with a narrator head at the entrance.

I was thinking, rather calmly for such a bizarre thing, what am I doing in this cave, and what’s this painting on the wall? Is that a ship on the ocean?

A voice answered, saying it was a ship carrying a Nagual from the 1X00s (can’t recall), and one of the more interesting in our lineage.

I realized, he would explain any picture I wanted. All I had to do was walk deeper in there, and I could learn about our lineage going back as far as the tunnel.

And also, I could stick my head into each one, and watch it move.

They were arranged like the “furrows” Carlos had said could save his life if only he could gather enough energetic mass at workshops, to “jump grooves”.

But we let him down with all the self-absorption and angry groupie behavior, so he died.

We killed Carlos.

Shortly I found myself back on the hotel steps looking at the cat. There could be some missing time in there.

The cat leaped up an entire apartment floor while I watched. His feet only touched a thick pipe or electrical wire, going from one to the other. I suppose it was all the boost he needed. A lot like “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”, where they just touch a tree branch to keep their flying going.

He kept hoping up, probably only 1 or 2 more floors, until he reached the last, at which point he walked along a 2" pipe connecting the buildings. It was a 40 foot tightrope walk.

Later I asked the bar girl about the cat, and she said, “We all love him. He’s a star here. He protects the building in exchange for food.”

I looked down to the ground. The bar was up 8 or 12 feet. The cat was resting on some rags someone had arranged as a bed.

The second time, I lost the history lesson right away because I realized where I was.

Book deal mind got me.

Those were daylight visits. Caused by being in heightened awareness, through stalking.

Stalking can get you into heightened awareness, but nearly always it just turns you into a self-absorbed annoying person pretending to be learning sorcery.

In the darkroom, “Mystery” gives me history lessons.

But it’s the history of old seers, and makes no sense to me.

He showed me one of their techniques.

Rocks and patterns in the dirt.

That’s all they had to work with. Mud.

Some decent huts, but made only out of tree branches, palm fronds and such.

I recommend getting history lessons in the dark room! They’re more stable.

We read that Carlos got so much teaching from the Emissary that he had to ask don Juan how to write it all down. Don Juan told him to only write down the parts pertaining to a particular topic. I can’t recall what.

They really do that! IOBs do in fact turn into the Emissary for you.

But don’t expect them to put on a professor’s robe just before they do it.

They will in fact do that also, if you wish. I had Fancy in a school teacher mini-skirt one night, because I asked her to do that.

But, normally you’re just doing puffery, they show up, and tell you something.

Only if you accept the interaction as teaching, do they continue on.

But don’t expect to be brought to their world for the lessons.

They can bring you to their cave without you actually realizing it. So just take what you get, and if you want them to keep teaching don’t look around too much.

If you’re worried about kidnapping, give it up. You’ll never learn sorcery. You’re in pretending mode and will never get around to doing any actual work.

That’s nearly as lame as being afraid to visit Compton, because you might get kidnapped by roaming rap gang members. They could hold you hostage for many years, making you listen to their latest song.

Compton is in fact lovely, in its own way. And you’d be lucky to get taken over by Snoop Doggy. He has lots of “cool” alcohol.

Just remember this important point: You can’t learn sorcery by collecting more information about sorcery.

It’s not possible.

There’s no shame in thinking that. It’s how we learn every single other thing in the world.

But not sorcery.

I suppose the closest analogy is, you can’t learn about martial arts, by collecting information about them.

You have to do it.

But even more, in this particular community, where we have real magic instead of the pretend stuff you get elsewhere, it’s even slightly harmful to be too obsessed with collecting facts.

You might entertain or satisfy someone else with your inventory collector tendency, so that they don’t take the first step that night, and build themselves a dark room.

A bunch of circumstances (coincidences) have to come together, to get someone to “jump”.

Carlos use to taunt us to “jump” in class, with bizarre tasks we could take on.

Like, walking 134 miles to San Diego, from Santa Monica. Right after class. Just take off.

He said it would transform us.

No one would go. I even held out my credit card, to encourage the women to go for it.

The men had already left the building.

The next day Felix asked Carlos about it again, saying, “now what would happen if we did…”

In other words, “What reward will I get if I do as you suggest?”

Carlos interrupted him. “That was yesterday. It’s too late now.”

It was always “circumstances” that prevented absolutely everyone in private class from doing a task Carlos proposed.

By collecting inventory in public, you might put a “fun fact” in someone’s mind, so that in the evening when they have time they aren’t desperate for magic anymore, and don’t jump that night.

Imagine someone is all antsy and unhappy with their life, and they wonder if the puffs of light might in fact be their salvation.

But they they remember how funny it is to get a lesson from an old shaman, in a magical tunnel.

They relax on the bed to ponder if that’s true or made up, and don’t get around to “jumping” that evening.

Then, never again do they get the right combination of circumstances to cause them to take action. Their old girlfriend comes back, their dad dies, the rent goes up and they have to move.

They had just one cubic centimeter of chance to take action, and they lost it because of an entertaining story.

Sorcery isn’t just a matter of getting around to it. Otherwise people would probably find the time often.

But it’s nutty! Pointless. Hopeless.

Magic? Are you crazy??? Who’s going to put in hours of work each night, for something stupid like that when they could watch the latest TV shows?

You have to both have the time, accept that it’s insane, and be desperate enough to get started.
